LIFE BALANCING

Hi. I'm Christina, an American Yogi living in the UK.

I LOVE getting to know people & guiding them towards finding their own flow, balance & strength - both the inner & outer kind. I've studied, trained & travelled extensively and have a real passion for using YOGA tools for everyday living. I like to think I’m a fun mum - busy juggling the adventures of a full & fruitful life and YOGA helps balance out me & my twirly world. Shall we see if it can help you too?

Background: I first fell upon yoga 1992 when I was in university studying the mind and became fascinated with psychology & eastern philosophies. This was incredibly helpful as I was also dealing with grief -  2 of my dearest loved ones had died suddenly. Yoga helped me see life through different perspectives -It reduced my suffering - and inspired me to create the kind of extradorinaiy life that we all deserve.

Physically: I was always quite sporty so it was a natural evolution to incorporate yoga asanas into my exercise. I still enjoy mountain biking, dancing and sailing etc - but I’ll often put on my yogi goggles so I enjoy them even more & avoid injuries. I've had a couple injuries/strains and when I look back, my injuries have always happened when I wasn't being mindful.

Training: I have a gymnastics background and taught for much of my youth at the YMCA.  I worked for one of the top ad agencies in Boston but always looked forward to my yoga with coach; Baron Baptise. My fast paced work life was so exciting but I was often innately drawn to the contrast to bring me back to my best alignment of my authentic self...with the essence of YOGA.    I moved to England in 2000 and traded my city career for a calmer paced country life which led me to 4 years training  with British Wheel of Yoga (the U.K.’s highest governing body for teachers).  I gave birth to 2 sons during these training years so I have a really in depth/first hand knowledge of pregnancy modifications. I had the privilege of being taught by the late TKV Desikachar at the Krishnamacharya Mandiram in Chennai, India. I’ve also trained in Kerala, India at the Sivananda Ashram.  I enjoy trying new classes wherever I am in my travels.  I’m alway learning - I like reading the work of Krishnamurti, Deepak Chopra, and Thich Nhat Hhan but I find some of life’s lessons in the most random settings - So I encourage my students to look beyond the mat. I’ve even had a rock-n-roll Yoga session in NYC - where we explored replacing the outside music with the deep discovery our inner tranquility!

- I’m a big fan of travel - but definitely prefer to drip feed self care regularly rather than do retreats. I feel this helps keep us connected to our real day to day lives.
